The Environmental Inspector (EI) will be assigned to the green field construction site at mobilization. Scope will include activities necessary to ensure compliance with FederalEnergy Regulatory Commission (FERC) environmental conditions, as well as other environmental regulations through the construction phase of the project. The EI will function as an integral component of a team of professionals tasked with monitoring performance to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulatory requirements on a highly visible project in south Texas.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Function as a resource on the site tasked with ensuring FERC & environmental compliance.
- Work closely with the Contractor's site Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with stated policies and procedures and permit conditions.
- Conduct field inspections daily to address specific topics including but not limited to Limit of Disturbance/exclusion area details, maintenance of BMPs, secondary containment maintenance, erosion control maintenance, debris maintenance, dust control, roadway maintenance, wildlife interactions, etc.
- Provide input and guidance following spills and during clean-up as necessary
- Maintains up to date knowledge of relevant environmental regulations
- Interface with the Site Management to provide support.
- Interface with the Regulatory & Permitting team and provide support with FERC permit compliance issues and reporting.
- Participate in Construction Team, Safety Committee and other engagements as required
- Participate in scheduled field engagements with EPC personnel
- Participates in compliance audits when scheduled
- Responsible for assembling & presenting reports for Site Management
Experience and educational background:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental discipline, or equivalent experience in a role relative to FERC compliance; preferably on an LNG liquefaction project in the US.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory agencies including the FERC, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Experience in permitting/compliance with a variety of environmental components including but not limited to stormwater, wetlands, wildlife resources, cultural resources, hazardous materials, noise monitoring, etc.
- Knowledge of South Texas flora and fauna including threatened and endangered species.
- Understanding of environmental regulations and construction methods necessary to execute the project.
- Experience advising personnel and work on multi-cultural work sites and/or international projects
- Experience with U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulated facilities and associated protocol.
- Fluent in English. Spanish fluency a plus
