An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with Woodside as a Senior Environmental Engineer on an initial 12-month contract with potential for extension.
Located in the Scarborough Upstream Project Technical Integration Team, the Senior Environment Engineer is responsible for assuring delivery of their respective discipline’s Detailed Design in accordance with the Contract Scope, Basis of Design and associated Woodside Engineering Standards.
The successful candidate will be able to provide key inputs and support to the environment approvals process. Primary focus of the position is the floating production unit (topsides); however, support may be required across all project scopes including subsea, trunkline and seabed intervention.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
- Assure delivery of the project in accordance with environmental requirements in the BOD, Contractor Scopes of Work, Engineering Standards and regulatory obligations
- Ensure the contractors’ design managed environmental risks and impacts to acceptable and ALARP levels
- Deliver environmental assurance scopes
- Review and input to deliverables and work scopes managed by other disciplines and contractors
- Provide timely and fit for purpose responses to technical queries from internal colleagues and contractors
- Support management and close out of recommendations from design review
- Participate in and support process safety frameworks
- Provide technical input to Environment Plan and other required approvals processes, including studies such as environmental modelling and coordinating technical descriptions
- and input from other disciplines, and articulating ALARP demonstration drawing on design and operations planning already completed and ongoing
- Provide input to operations readiness and maintenance planning frameworks
- Build and maintain a proactive environment culture within the broader project team, including internal colleagues and contractors
- The role requires extensive interface and working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary internal and contractor stakeholders such as other engineering disciplines, environmental advisers, regulatory compliance advisers, operations readiness, maintenance planning and regulators.
- Tertiary qualified in Engineering
- 5-15 years industry experience
- Able to work with uncertainty to deliver an outcome
- Strong understanding and demonstrated track record in application of ALARP, and coaching others to achieve ALARP outcomes
- Ability to apply informed engineering judgement across multi-disciplines, balancing input from across the Company
- Ability to influence and earn credibility across the organization and contractors through written and verbal communication
- · Have a broad understanding of engineering requirements, regulatory requirements and management of risk
- Experience in production or operations readiness is beneficial
