Job Title: Senior Project Manager, Skincare
Location: Irvine, CA - 3 days onsite/ 2 remote (Tue, Wed, Thurs on-site)
Pay Rate: $60-67/hr
Length of the assignment: 1 year
Position Overview
The Senior Project Manager, Skincare will drive cross-functional teams to bring innovative skincare products to market.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the effective management (organization, planning, execution, control, and evaluation) of cross-functional skincare pipeline deliverables. These include development and launch of new products and global expansion.
Main Areas of Responsibilities
- Works in concert with Deliverables Team chairs and cross-functional team members to develop and drive the asset strategy, including product development, evidence generation, brand strategy, and the associated global cross-functional plans.
- Manages the Deliverables Team cross-functional plans and drives execution in collaboration with R&D, Operations & Commercial and ensures alignment with the Asset Strategy team. Ensures milestones, goals, and budget are achieved and risk is effectively managed.
- Communicates milestones and deliverables status and provides resolution options/recommendations for project issues.
- Responsible for deliverable team project financials including annual budgeting, tracking and monitoring of monthly actuals against the approved forecast.
- Provides decision analysis expertise and tools to the teams for strategic planning and operational execution.
- Provides training and coaching of Deliverables Team on processes including product development process, project governance, development plans, critical path, decision trees and project financials.
Requirements
- A passionate project manager with demonstrated experience within the OTC, medical device and/or Pharma skincare product development pathway.
- 8 years' experience in the OTC, medical device, and/or Pharma R&D environment, including 5 years as a Project Manager or equivalent.
Preferred Skills/Qualification
- Expert in consumer/skincare product development and the interdependencies of individual development activities.
- Expert in the application of project management software and ability to utilize R&D project and portfolio management systems.
- Proven negotiation, issue resolution and team building skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve project issues, including those related to timing, resources, and funding to prevent delays in project milestones.
- Excellence in communication, stakeholder management, facilitating and managing meetings.
- Expert in facilitating team decision-making.
- Ability to encourage intelligent risk taking and a bold culture.
Education
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Life Sciences or Engineering discipline
- PMP certification is helpful but not required.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead high complexity product development projects:
- Project Strategy and Planning:
- In partnership with Deliverable Team Chair develops the deliverables team global strategy and drives the execution of the strategy across products and indications for the asset.
- Develop, monitor, and control the project cross-functional plans, timeline, budget, milestones, ensuring both cross-functional alignment and alignment with the asset strategy team.
- At each stage gate, supports the Asset Strategy Team to gain approval from the Governance Board
- Evaluate, monitor, and control project risks.
- Identify, actively manage, and resolve project issues, providing scenario analysis and mitigation plans.
- Project Execution
- Support the cross-functional Deliverables Team to execute the project on time per agreed to milestones/timelines and within approved budget.
- Act proactively and assertively to ensure team members meet their commitments as planned, and work to the appropriate standards.
- Meeting Facilitation:
- Manage the Deliverables Team operational activities to ensure milestones and goals are met.
- Schedule Deliverables Team and other relevant meetings.
- Manage effective and efficient Deliverables Team meetings, scheduling, clear agendas and meeting minutes capturing action items and decisions. Proactively follow-up on action items.
Communication:
- Ensure management decisions are provided to Deliverables Team (and sub teams) in a timely manner
- Monitor and record progress of project activities, milestones and forecasts and periodically report status to management
- Ensure and maintain open communication with and between Asset Strategy Team, Deliverables Team, and sub-team members
Issue resolution:
- Actively respond to project risks, mitigate, prevent and/or resolve potential risks or issues.
- Identify issues within Deliverables Team needing resolution with management or Governance Board.
Decision Analysis:
- Define with the teams the appropriate key decision points and go/no go criteria.
- Provide decision analysis expertise and tools to the project teams in strategic planning and operational execution, ensure timely and well-informed decision making.
- Support the Asset Strategy Team and Deliverables Team for management meetings to ratify decisions.
Training
- Train and coach team members on project team processes including project governance, roles /responsibilities of Deliverables Team members, planning processes, project goals and milestones, use and application of project management tools including Global Development Strategy, Gantt charts, decision trees, project costing, and forecasting.
