Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) - Contract (1 year) - Start in October 2022

Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for developing and maintaining effective partner relationships with suppliers.

The SQE is critical for the manufacturing health of the business by ensuring suppliers are committed, engaged and fully aligned with the strategic requirements and vision of the business.

They must ensure that critical data are collected, analysed, and acted upon to ensure supplier performance is continually improved. Ensure a supplier audit schedule is developed, maintained, and executed effectively.

Relationships:

They report directly to the Plant Quality Manager.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Be both; the voice of the customer (VOC) and voice of the supplier (VOS) to ensure favorable outcomes for the business

• Ensure critical data are collected, analysed and acted upon when necessary, identification of trends and actions to correct ensuring these are driven through to completion

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the whole business and supply chain

• Identification of, and participant in, Continuous Improvement (CI) projects
• Lead and ensure effective closure of supplier Product Quality Incident (PQI) investigations (8D, NCR etc.)

• Review and update of key supply chain / supplier related documentation as and when changes to business needs occur (such as customer requirements)

• Lead effective supplier process and management system audits against ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 ensuring findings are closed out in a timely and effective manner

• Participate in internal Integrated Management System (IMS) audits

• Feedback any issues seen on received items to the supplier, investigating and eradicating issues where necessary (currently IFR/RON system, will change in SAP)

• Think quickly and outside of the box for solutions when critical time sensitive issues arise

• Support the onsite Quality team when necessary

• Participate in internal third-party audits

• Support the supply chain team when onboarding a new supplier

• Support New Product Development (NPD) teams during identification and implementation phases of new suppliers (Design for Manufacture)

Desired Skills / Experience

Previous experience in dealing with multiple key suppliers (18+)

Previous experience in a fast-paced dynamic manufacturing environment

Problem solving, including full Root Cause Analysis processes and associated tools and techniques

Good knowledge of multiple supplier processes, including, machining, welding, plating, coating, injection and compression moulding

Previous experience of onboarding new suppliers

Previous experience of working with NPD teams and the Design for Manufacture philosophy

Able to think quickly when critical issues arise.

Excellent knowledge of ISO 9001 and good experience of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (latest revisions).

Preferably Lead Auditor qualified, or internal auditor qualified (IRCA registered training course) with extensive practical experience of internal / external auditing
Preferable, Degree / HNC (Production / Mechanical / Electrical / Quality Engineering)

Other:
  • Hours 8.00am to 5.00pm
  • Flex working - 3 days in office, 2 days work from home
