The client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Operations Geologist, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
* Lead well planning activities for designated areas in conjunction with the drilling team, geoscientists and Business Development in accordance with Company Rules, Guidelines and Procedures
* Ensure timely production of the Well Statement of Requirements (WSOR) and the detailed data acquisition programmes to ensure optimised well planning.
* Promote company's safety culture in all aspects of Subsurface operations onshore and offshore
* Assist the drilling engineer / environmental advisor with the preparation of WONS (Well Operations and Notifications System) Applications and Notifications.
* Coordinate and manage subsurface studies by HQ and external parties
* Oversee day to day well operations and ensure all Subsurface / Geological objectives are met
* Ensure contract release orders for relevant services are issued, monitor service quality, conduct technical approval of invoices and compile data acquisition costs.
* Interpret or validate geological data while drilling to optimise ongoing operations and limit financial exposure.
* Report and communicate interpreted data to Geosciences and Drilling groups.
* Perform basic petrophysical interpretations (quick look) in conjunction with the Petrophysicist.
* Ensure Final Geological Reports are prepared and issued in accordance with NSTA guidelines.
* Update geological operations lessons learnt databases and provide Return on Experience (REX).
* Present final results to partners and represent Company at a senior technical level
* Train/coach/mentor junior Operations Geologists, Operations Geologists and Wellsite Geologists.
* Perform periodic visits to wellsite to promote HSE, present pre-job briefings.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Standalone professional with (BSc equivalent or above) in a Geoscience based study and relevant experience in the Oil & Gas industry
* Significant field operations experience.
* Good communication skills
* In-depth knowledge of formation evaluation services, well placement and steering techniques.
* Pore pressure prediction and analysis methodology expertise
* Ability to perform the tasks with minimal supervision and to train and mentor others
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work within a team to tight deadlines while still delivering high quality technical interpretations
* Ability to make technical recommendations and proactively initiate studies
