The role
Joining a tier 1 contractor who are working across a number of major rail projects throughout Australia. You will be responsible for implementing and managing Rail Safety and WHS Management recruitments, strategies and initiatives across a major rail freight project based in Sydney.

Joining a tier 1 contractor who are working across a number of major rail projects throughout Australia. You will be responsible for implementing and managing Rail Safety and WHS Management recruitments, strategies and initiatives across a major rail freight project based in Sydney.
Responsibilities include:
- Guide and support the Project to develop and implement a safety culture that aligns to the company vision, including adequate development and training in safety critical roles
- Ensure the project maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus and discipline related to safety
- Initiate and administer safety improvement, education and compliance programs
- Align client, business unit and project Rail Safety & WHS requirements with the relevant business plans and facilitate the implementation of them
- Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences
- Coordinate and provide day to day specialist support, coaching and mentoring to internal stakeholders including the Project Leadership, employees, contractors, clients and visitors during the project lifecycle
- Develop and guide project safety professionals to ensure day to day specialist project support
- Ensure the project understands and have the tools to meet their regulatory and legal safety obligations
- Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements and monitor safety performance progress
- Monthly internal and client reporting
About you:
- Advanced Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- Safety Lead Auditor Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Safety, Environmental, Project Management or other associated disciplines desirable
- TAFE Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Construction safety management (6+ years)
- 8 + years of construction/heavy industry experience
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects is preferred
- Knowledge of Safety legislation and statutes, and ability to interpret any applicable statutes or legislation relevant to Project is preferred
