Design and Build's specialist HSE desk have partnered exclusively alongside a tier 3 commercial builder well known for any of Melbourne's high end apartment buildings in the inner suburbs of Metro Melbourne. Focusing on projects from $20M-50M, the builder is well known in the industry for it's people and culture. The builder has an opening on a $30M apartment building in Croydon, where the project is in is groundworks stage. 

The role


As an OHS officer, you will be tasked with
  • Onsite inductions of plant and personnel using Hammertech (experience highly regarded) 
  • Direction and monitoring safety procedures on site
  • Reporting OHS matters to HSE team and site team 
  • Site walks & tool box talks 
  • Assisting HSE team with preparations for high risk work 
  • Labouring duties as required - Traffic control, assisting with keeping the site clear of obstructions, assisting the site manager as needed and directing labour on site to complete OHS actionable items 
Career development is excellent within the builder, with the successful candidate having options to move into senior roles within Health & Safety, foreman or crane crew in the future. 

Minimum requirements 
  • Excellent work ethic. 
  • 2 + years experience in an OHS Officer role within commercial projects 
  • Cert III OHS minimum (essential) - Cert IV OHS highly regarded. 
  • Good knowledge of construction works - able to assist trades on site with works as required
  • Additional construction tickets highly regarded
  • Can do attitude, high energy, willingness to learn
This role includes labouring to assist trades on site, so applicants must have a high level of health & fitness. 

On offer is a permanent position, on an hourly rate of $40/hr + penalties and allowances. Average hours on site 50/week.
