Project Development Manager (Appraisal)
Various Locations across the US – Travel up to 50%

I am working with a large/major operator and they have engaged me to identify a Project Development Manager (Appraisal) or an Appraisal Manager (Brownfield).
This positions sits within the Portfolio Management Group of the organization.

What are they looking to achieve/secure?

They company need an appraisal engineer who can screen and move forward the most attractive business opportunities across their refining entities. Essentially to take the projects from concept to optimization (FEL 1/2).
The drive is three fold – protect value/maximize value/move to net zero

This role is exciting because there isn’t a directed playbook. This will require the candidate to be able innovate, work with uncertainties, react to situational changes all whilst integrating perspectives from multiple entities within and without the organization.

You will have to be aware industry advancements and be confident enough to drive real change across the refining portfolio.
This person will liaise with stakeholders and contributors from every strata of the operations and have the political nuance to keep all parties aligned.

This role would suit an experienced project manager who has worked on multiple projects across a division concurrently and comes from a refineries/appraisal background.

Must haves:

  • Engineering degree
  • Significant post graduate experience
  • PMP accreditation
  • Oil and Gas experience
  • Brownfield project appraisal
  • Experience of FEL 1 & 2 or PPP


In this role you will tasked with:

  • Delivering improved reliability and optimization
  • Accelerating digital transformation
  • Making refinery operations safer
  • Expediting the reduction of carbon emissions

This role requires the candidate come from an operator or refinery background.
