The client is currently seeking a Contract Field Operator to join their team in the Bashaw, AB area.  This is a contract role, working an 9/5 shift, 9 hours per day.  Candidates must be local to the area.

 

KEY AREAS OF CONTRIBUTION:

  • Reporting to the Foreman the incumbent will be responsible for operations and maintenance of oil field operation/plant operations with minimal supervision and optimize wells in an efficient, cost effective and safe manner.
 

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and maintain central production facilities, water injection pumps, related equipment and various utility support systems including oil field boilers, centrifugal desanders, and chemical injection equipment
  • Complete routine duties which include as gas engine checks, hydraulic checks, production books, change and, zero charts, routine compressor checks, routine checks, blow down scrubbers
  • Ability to perform all tasks, troubleshoot and remedy operations upsets the wells and all operating equipment
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of equipment including compressor, pumping and well performance evaluation
  • Knowledgeable on plant and field operating procedures, piping and equipment layout, valve locations and process flows
  • Test and monitor gas and oil wells using correct procedures
  • Identify deficiencies and recommend correction to existing procedures to ensure the assigned filed meets performance standards
  • Complete routine paperwork
  • Ensure housekeeping in the area is kept at a high standard
  • Remain on-call during off hours, as requested, to provide off-hour coverage for facilities

 

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:

  • Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by the Company
  • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
  • Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply;
  • Report any injury or illness immediately;
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions;
  • Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12 or GED is required
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Valid PFO-B or GPO –B certification and working on PFO-C or GPO-C
  • Competition of Area specific training requirements for position and/or location as deemed necessary for progression purposes by Foreman and Operations Superintendent
  • Must maintain current safety certification training as per area requirements
     
     EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 4 years of previous experience in field or plant operations
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to complete routine tasks independently
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to produce high quality work with minimal supervision or guidance
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and handling repetitive activities such as bending, climbing, twisting, kneeling and sitting
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of emergency response plans, safe work procedures, permitting procedures and plant safety rule.
  • Physical ability to operate All-Terrain Vehicles
