The client is currently seeking a Contract Field Operator to join their team in the Bashaw, AB area. This is a contract role, working an 9/5 shift, 9 hours per day. Candidates must be local to the area.
KEY AREAS OF CONTRIBUTION:
- Reporting to the Foreman the incumbent will be responsible for operations and maintenance of oil field operation/plant operations with minimal supervision and optimize wells in an efficient, cost effective and safe manner.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate and maintain central production facilities, water injection pumps, related equipment and various utility support systems including oil field boilers, centrifugal desanders, and chemical injection equipment
- Complete routine duties which include as gas engine checks, hydraulic checks, production books, change and, zero charts, routine compressor checks, routine checks, blow down scrubbers
- Ability to perform all tasks, troubleshoot and remedy operations upsets the wells and all operating equipment
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of equipment including compressor, pumping and well performance evaluation
- Knowledgeable on plant and field operating procedures, piping and equipment layout, valve locations and process flows
- Test and monitor gas and oil wells using correct procedures
- Identify deficiencies and recommend correction to existing procedures to ensure the assigned filed meets performance standards
- Complete routine paperwork
- Ensure housekeeping in the area is kept at a high standard
- Remain on-call during off hours, as requested, to provide off-hour coverage for facilities
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:
- Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by the Company
- Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
- Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply;
- Report any injury or illness immediately;
- Report unsafe acts and conditions;
- Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and is worn where and when required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 or GED is required
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Valid PFO-B or GPO –B certification and working on PFO-C or GPO-C
- Competition of Area specific training requirements for position and/or location as deemed necessary for progression purposes by Foreman and Operations Superintendent
- Must maintain current safety certification training as per area requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of previous experience in field or plant operations
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to complete routine tasks independently
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and ability to produce high quality work with minimal supervision or guidance
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and handling repetitive activities such as bending, climbing, twisting, kneeling and sitting
- Exceptional problem solving skills
- Knowledge of emergency response plans, safe work procedures, permitting procedures and plant safety rule.
- Physical ability to operate All-Terrain Vehicles
