The valued client, a large Oil & Gas company are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their Calgary team on a long-term contract basis.

Key Accountabilities

Automation and application system support and design for capital projects striving to complete them safely, on schedule, on budget
Work closely with the site automation team to maintain overall system integrity and reliability
Designs and develops facilities automation systems unassisted or within a team
Monitor the integrity of the control system database and taking action to maintain
Provide technical design support to projects and operations for Regulatory Control, Sequence Control, Advanced Process Control, Safety Instrumented Systems and HAZOP / Risk Assessment support. Including control system programming, operator training and documentation
Support the design, implementation and start up of the facility process control systems. Including FAT/SAT for verification and validation of systems
Identification and implementation of control strategies
Identification and implementation of additional requirements to support the successful start-up of facilities.
Support the development of commissioning plans and procedures for process control applications
Support the continuous improvement of process control key performance indicators
Provide support to MOC processes / procedures.
Participate in the development of standards and guidelines
Work closely with Operations Department to ensure reliability of graphics
Train operators in the use of new or updated graphics
Influences others to achieve objectives
Often provides specialized/technical/functional guidance to others within department and/or business asset

Required / Preferred Skills and Experience

10+ years of experience. Expert level. Technical specialist in all areas of the discipline.
Must have strong team skills to build consensus across organizational lines
Design & implementation knowledge of regulatory, sequential, and advanced process control concepts
Design & implementation knowledge of alarm management concepts
Design & implementation experience with industry standard programming concepts
Design & implementation knowledge of Honeywell Experion DCS / C200 / C300 Controllers, Yokogawa CentumVP DCS, Yokogawa ProSafe-RS SIS, Rockwell ControlLogix PLC, Ethernet/IP and Modbus/TCP industrial control communication networks.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering / completion of a Technologist Diploma in Instrumentation or related field
