Brief Description:
The Electronic Technician’s primary responsibility is to support Survey Operations in the troubleshooting and maintaining of all survey equipment.
The Electronic Technician works under the direction of the Tech Services Manager, but must also be responsive to Survey Operations management company-wide.

The Electronic Technician works under the direction of the Tech Services Manager, but must also be responsive to Survey Operations management company-wide.
Detailed Description:
- Provide support to Operations in determining the cause and effect of the gyro system malfunctions (troubleshooting) with minimal feedback from surveyors.
- Disassemble electronic and/ or electromechanical survey systems, inspect, and evaluate system components deemed as possibly defective-- suspicious.
- Communicate with Operations to confirm technical analyses and conclusions are consistent with problems encountered in the field.
- Assemble, build and test gyro and magnetic survey instruments from components (such as gyro spin motors) to sub-assemblies to complete systems using tools such as oscilloscopes, soldering irons, etc.
- Record and report all lab test results to the senior management and notify them about defects and inconsistencies, if any.
- Perform periodic repairs/ maintenance and upgrades to survey equipment to ensure consistency with quality parameters/ specifications.
- Take additional care and effort to ensure that all equipment coming through the survey lab complies with industry standard safety measures and do not pose a threat to the users.
- Perform documentation using Microsoft spreadsheet and Labview software products as necessary on all tests, repairs, and maintenance conducted (and the results derived) to maintain a record of the product development procedures and history.

- Able to study and understand all electronic schematics and mechanical blueprints in order to learn the configuration and methods of assembling new products and maintaining existing fleet of equipment and machinery.
- Clear vision and fine hand skills to perform soldering and electronic equipment repair tasks on a microscopic level.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of formal vocational technical electronics education or equivalent training
- Electronic component soldering proficiency comparable to NASA certified personnel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in electronics and/ or computer technology
