The valued client, a large Oil & Gas company are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to join their busy team on a short term contract basis (6 months with the possibility for extension) in Calgary, AB.


Responsibilities:

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide environmental oversight and services for Project planning, detailed engineering design and construction responsible for environmental design, environmental assessment, federal and provincial permit acquisition, and environmental commitments and compliance;

• Maintain relationships and ensure collaboration with key pipeline project disciplines responsible for engineering, project management, commitments and compliance, land, community relations, Indigenous relations, legal, and safety to identify and resolve issues;

• Provide technical environmental advice to shape strategic direction for environmental design, biophysical field studies, permitting activities, site-specific mitigation and contingency plans for the Project as well as provide input into cross-cutting issues and corporate initiatives;

• Provide support in the management of external environmental contractors to produce high quality deliverables and carry out work in compliance with executed contractual requirements;

 • Provide guidance to the Project team regarding implementation of the Environmental and Socio-economic Execution Plan and enabling functions including project execution plans, budgets and schedules, cost management and risk mitigation measures and ensure the integration of environmental protection is appropriately applied into Project construction;

 • Support compliance with corporate environmental policies and procedures;

 • Represent Project interests and corporate initiatives through engagement with relevant regulatory authorities, Indigenous communities, stakeholders, industry associations, environmental groups, and the public;

• Implement strategies for obtaining environmental regulatory authorizations, and for providing information to address environmental issues and concerns;

• Manages competing priorities and complex issues simultaneously with tight and conflicting deadlines.

 

Qualifications and Education:



• Minimum 10+ years experience in environmental planning and permitting for pipelines and other energy projects, including routing/siting, environmental planning, project management, permitting and environmental compliance;

• Bachelor's Degree in environmental sciences, geography, or related technical field;

• Comprehensive knowledge of federal, provincial and local environmental laws/regulations and practices pertaining to pipeline project development in British Columbia;

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience working with regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, non-governmental organizations, landowners and the public;

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies in regulatory affairs, stakeholder engagement, public acceptance

• Previous experience solving complex and unique regulatory, permitting and compliance issues on major pipeline projects;

 

Please note:

Candidate must be fully vaccinated for COVID- 19 as there is travel associated with this role (3-5 days/month)
