Main Responsibilities of the role
- Implementing the Quality, Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental policy within Pharmaceuticals and initiating and making proposals with regard to the policy
- Ensures everything is compliance with all EHS laws and regulations and customer EHS standards by developing programs and performing audits
- Provides identification and assessment of EHS risks and pro-active reduction of these risks, in compliance with EHS and GMP requirements. Initiates CAPEX projects where necessary.
- Provides annual plan and budget.
- Ensures implementation of EHS policy through audits, checks, measurements and analysis of EHS data, and prepare relevant KPIs
- Implement a site-wide EHS culture that strives for Target Zero, including input from all employees
- Coach and advises SLT, managers and employees in EHS.
- Demonstrates leadership in the pursuit of continuous improvement of EHS performance.
- Manages the EHS department and is an active member of the Site Leadership Team.
- Actively maintains a good relationship with internal and external stakeholders including governments, fire brigade and emergency services, health insurer and neighboring companies.
Desired Experience and Background of the successful candidate
- Adequate technical knowledge in EHS (such as: waste, water, air emissions, audit and inspection, industrial hygiene, hazard communication, ergonomics, lab safety, process safety and EHS management systems).
- Adequate practical experience with site EHS programs or has implemented or ran other programs in a highly regulated environment, i.e. Production/ Quality/ Engineering.*
- Professional certifications a must when required legally. Other professional certifications, i.e. CSP, CIH - an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of local current and upcoming legislation and current best EHS practices. International experience is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of cGMP requirements for products, process and systems.
- Basic experience with management systems such as ISO9001; ISO 14001; OHSAS18001.
- Basic knowledge of OPEX principles and tools. Chemical/ Pharmaceutical Technology Understanding
- TAPI sites require advanced technical knowledge in Process Safety or Chemical engineering, practical experience of performing complex risk assessments, and adequate knowledge of applicable hazard communication and right to know regulations, e.g. REACH, GHS, OSHA, WHIMS, etc., for the countries they operate in or interact with.* Project Management
- Basic project management knowledge and experience.
Adequate experience in working with matrix environment.
