Accountabilities include:
- Support delivery of new fuels, chemicals and projects globally (experimental, technical, theoretical, computational) in partnership with internal & external collaborators that address challenges related to bio feedstock availability, type, cost and supply chain
- Support Subject Matter Expert on bio-feedstock to advise New Energies business on new business development opportunities for New Energies and Chemicals projects in East region with bio component
- Maintain competitive landscape information
- Define key feedstock characteristics, availability and regulatory criteria for fuels, chemicals and projects
- Contribute to results published in peer-reviewed publications, internal technical reports, conference presentations, and patent filings
- Develop understanding of the broader carbon and energy system, the energy transition, & the role of emerging technologies
- Establish working knowledge of techno-economic analyses to place technology developments into appropriate context within the area of agricultural and forestry feedstocks.
Dimensions
- The BD team is a global team, as is the customer base and relevant projects. Researchers will support projects globally from the US.
- To establish effective working relationships with external partners, a non-trivial amount (>25%) of travel is anticipated to have sufficient “face time” to build, grow, and maintain collaborations.
Skills & Requirements
- Ideally, successful candidates will have PhD in plant sciences, agronomy, forestry or a related field with minimum 1+ years of technical research beyond the PhD
- They will be expected to have excellent intellectual analysis and integration skills, the enthusiasm to progress their insights and leadership ability
- They will have demonstrated a willingness to learn and apply cross-disciplinary approaches to solving problems and be happy working in a tight-knit but globally-dispersed team.
- Practical experience in one or more of the following areas would be distinct advantage: biofuel or bioenergy supply operations, crop development, water management, regulatory frameworks, nature-based solutions, forestry management
- Experience with assessing new developments in the bio-feedstock area and put these in perspective with ambitions in the New Energies and Chemicals businesses.
- Demonstrated commitment to HSSE
- Demonstrated commitment to R&D as evidenced through technical presentations and publications
- Knowledge of the energy transition and carbon & energy systems as well as principles of life cycle analysis
- Capable of effective and impactful communications across topics, audiences, and formats at various organizational levels
