Department Manager Projects / South Holland

You'll manage and guide a group of about 30 project managers, project engineers and planners who work on a mix of projects ranging from feasibility studies to major EPC projects. By passing down your knowledge and creating an environment of sharing best practices you ensure that your team can perform at its best. You'll set stretching goals and objectives for your team to help them reach their full potential and take the team to a higher level.

You'll closely monitor the progress of each project and based on your extensive project experience you know exactly when to intervene when projects tend to go off track. Based on your people skills you'll assign staff from sales stage to execution, making a clear judgement call on who best fits a client and/or project.

Reporting directly to our VP, you'll provide support and have an advisory role to act as sparring partner to the VP.
You'll be responsible for the department of Project Management which among others include:

• Ensure best practices are applied with respect to application of risk management procedures and tools, internal reporting, cost control reporting and contracts management.
• Establish and maintain functional relations with other Departmental Managers of the different disciplines.
• Participate in monthly Management project review meetings as well as Head Quarter project review meetings.
• Participate in any Project Council meetings and initiatives.
• Act as a Project sponsor when applicable.

What we need from you

• You'll have at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent and extensive experience (15+ years) in an engineering company preferably in a similar position.
• We are open minded about your industry background but coming from a petrochemical environment helps you to succeed in this role.
• Your English communication skills are excellent both in speaking as well as in writing.
• You have strong people management skills and are able to inspire and motivate others.
