Instrument Inspector will be supporting the project during construction and pre-commissioning. Work in close collaboration with the PACT to provide technical support and assist with installation and pre-commissioning. Responsible for validating that the construction work in the field matches the approved Issued for Construction (IFC) documentation, and that any proposed deviation is escalated for review/approval as a Field Change Request (FCR). The Instrument Inspector must have proven technical, communications, & team leader skills. Experience in working with major capital projects is a definite plus.
Position description - Accountabilities
- Knowledge of the following global work processes and inspector's role in each: MOC, TA, IPF, ESP, HEMP/PHA.
- Provide effective leadership and support for Construction & Pre-Commissioning activities including overview of construction contractor QA/QC activities (documentation, calibration, installation, loop check, as-built process).
- Interact closely with construction, Emerson, PACT and project personnel.
- Fundamental knowledge of the various instrumentation systems, procedures and regulations as well as Shell DEPs including installation, electrical wiring/grounding, IPF, F&G, HART/AMS, etc.
- Possess instrument sizing capability (orifice, wet leg/DP level, and valve sizing).
- Adept at field troubleshooting various control systems and components.
- Provide technical and quality control review of all I&E construction activities.
- Maintain and identify redline updates of critical documentation (spec sheets, loop drawings, P&IDs, C&Es, narratives, etc.).
- Assist/lead SIS SAT procedure activities.

Experience and Qualifications required:
- Formal Instrument training and/or relevant experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing, project construction or technical support environment.
- Experience with Emerson DeltaV preferred.
- Experience with 3rd party systems (Bently Nevada, Allen Bradley, Profibus, Modbus, motor control, etc.) preferred.
- Knowledge of corporate policies and industry standards.
- Demonstrated analytical and decision making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to cope with a variety of issues and situations.
- Ability to work with diverse groups.
- Good communication skills (Oral/Written).
