The client, a well-known operator company, currently has an opportunity for a Water & Waste-Water Plant Operator for a 1 year contract with strong potential to extend. 

The Water & Waste-Water Plant Operator position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and compliance of the potable water and waste-water treatment plants. It is a permanent 480-person camp facility.

Note: This is a day-shift only position, (12) hours per day, 14-on 14-off, with transportation provided to/from site from Bonnyville, Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. Call-outs during off-shift hours may be required during process upsets.

Accountabilities:
  • Operate and monitor equipment throughout the water and waste-water treatment plants.
  • Maintain the processes to meet the applicable regulatory approvals.
  • Coordinate, develop, and deliver, as required, all training materials associated with safety, operations, and maintenance of the Lodge water and wastewater plants.
  • Coordinate chemical deliveries and liaison with chemical suppliers.
  • Perform process sampling and laboratory testing.
  • Interpret lab results for efficient plant operation and optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose process upsets and problems; taking remedial actions as required.
  • Record daily readings; produce monthly and yearly reports for submission to the regulatory bodies.
  • Perform all safety checks and issue permits as required.
  • Responsible for all housekeeping and plant maintenance duties.
  • Work in compliance with all corporate safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of all Lodge water and wastewater plant equipment.
  • Liaise with third-party maintenance contractors and equipment vendors.
  • Respond to all call-outs in a prompt and reliable manner.
  • Assist in the overall indoors and outdoors maintenance of the Leismer Lodge facilities.
  • Attend continuous education courses to maintain certification.
Qualifications:
  • The ideal, successful candidate must be motivated, energetic, and will have the following qualifications
  • Experience in potable water and waste-water treatment.
  • Holds a valid Level 2 Alberta Environment Water & Waste-Water Operator Certificate.
  • Must be able to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Proven organizational abilities.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with a desire to mentor, coach, and develop others.
  • Proficient with personal computers and various Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Maximo etc.).
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Experience working with small projects.
  • Excellent decision making skills and the ability to make independent decisions and judgments that may not be favorable to all.
  • An understanding of the AEP approval process and reporting requirements.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s license (note: a driver’s abstract is required).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
