Process Automation Engineer / Netherlands

Description

JOB PURPOSE

Developing process control systems and optimising their
performance (availability and reliability), on the one hand by reducing
failures and on the other hand, by improving maintenance.

·       

discussing
process design and regulation strategies for processes and installations with
the Process Engineer (with regard to process control and safety of
installations)

·       

developing
process design requirements in the control system, discussing
apparatus/software possibilities with suppliers

·       

providing
interfaces with other modular integrated operating systems for data input and
output

·       

entering
relevant parameters into the system, programming the configuration

·       

design,
updation and adjustment of the visualisation of regulations for the control
room 

·       

developing
maintenance concepts on the basis of failure analyses, expected replacements,
testing requirements in collaboration with concerned parties, entering the
concepts into the system

·       

identifying
and analysing potentially dangerous situations

·       

developing
system management concepts (inspection lists, status measurement lists, etc.)
and discussing these with managers and supervisors

·       

drawing
up cost budgets for replacement/modification of the systems

·       

making
suggestions for modifying the maintenance interval and/or maintenance
programme on the basis of the information collected and analysed

·       

localisation
of failures via tests and studies, determining the cause of the failure

·       

carrying
out maintenance works with regard to process control 

·       

managing
maintenance contracts with regard to the hardware, involving external parties
for the maintenance of the hardware

·       

commissioning
and handing over systems to production 

·       

assessing
the feasibility of process (safety) modifications, factory extensions and
engineering requests from the point of view of process control, in
cooperation with the Technical Department

·       

submitting
project proposals regarding modifications of systems within the process
control network

·       

advising
the management specifically with regard to regulation techniques and process
safety aspects

·       

transferring
process control knowledge with respect to process hazard evaluations reviews
within projects and multifunctional teams 

·       

advising
the management specifically with regard to regulation techniques and process
safety aspects

·       

advice
with regard to operations for optimising the operational process, based on
knowledge of and insight into regulation strategies

·       

drawing
up regulations and instructions with regard to operation and maintenance, and
advising the Maintenance Manager on the necessary level of stocks for spares
(with regard to one's own field of work)

Requirements

Level of working and thinking

HBO (Dutch higher professional education)

Education / experience

HTS-TU (Dutch Higher Technical Schools - Technical University) level
with minimum 7 years experience 

Training for process and regulation techniques (HBO/WO
(scientific education) level)

Extensive experience and knowledge of advanced and conventional
process control techniques and several process technologies.

Extensive experience in designing independently and clearly
specifying control strategies.
