- B. S. Degree or Diploma from an accredited and recognized College, University or Polytechnic Institute.
- Minimum of relevant year’s upstream oil & gas work experience preferably with worldwide integrated oil companies.
- Prior experience as an in-house Drilling Fluids Advisor.
- Prior experience as a Drilling Fluids Engineer.
- Prior experience working North Field drilling fluid challenges required.
- Prior experience drilling carbonate formations with severe lost returns.
- Formal courses in drilling fluids.
- Experience with offshore operations and safety.
- Demonstrated skills in Funding and Economic decision evaluation.
- Experience with hydrogen sulfide well designs and safety practices.
- Strong verbal and written skills in English.
- Ensure effective fluids technology assimilation, dissemination and operational application.
- Provide total fluids systems design, ensuring fluid selections are optimized for effective performance and drilling, completion, and work over operations efficiency.
- Plan Drilling fluids as an integrated system incorporating mass balance, solids content, particle size distribution, rheology and chemical reactivity.
- Establish drilling fluids chemistry and testing procedures.
- Design effective solids control systems and select equipment to optimize solids control efficiency.
- Assist with fluids services and materials QA/QC, procurement and logistics.
- Provide Fluids support for Completions and Work overs, including fluid selections, calculations and monitoring, with particular emphasis on debris management.
- Establish plans to control / cure lost circulation.
- Implement and monitor various sweeps, pills and spacers.
- Design fluid systems to minimize stuck pipe occurrences.
- Evaluate new/novel fluids systems from various suppliers to ensure company is able to take advantage of developing fluids technology applications. Focus on differential sticking and FE quality.
- Ensure that all fluids used are optimally planned and executed from an overall personnel safety and environment impact standpoint which is consistent with company’s policies and local regulatory requirements.
- This will include a team effort between internal EHS, fluids supplier, rig contractor and operational personnel.
- Understand fully the environmental considerations of our fluids program including handling and disposal, ensuring regulatory compliance with Supreme Council for the Environment and Natural Resources.
- Work closely with logistics and operations personnel and assist in planning for the efficient preparation, packaging, staging and movement of all dry bulk and liquid materials as required.
- Proactively assist operations in monitoring daily fluids usage and optimizing cost
- Support D&C team efforts to establish new tenders for Drilling, Completions and Work over fluids.
- Design: Assist the respective Heads of Drilling Engineering and Well work & Completions Engineering to deliver the fluids engineering designs in a timely manner
- Execution Planning: Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and fluids supplier and others to plan for effective and efficient execution
- Operations Support: Provide support and consultation during active operations
- Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentoring for development of D&C engineering personnel including seconders, direct hires.
- Studies: Facilitate studies on suitable state-of-the-art equipment, techniques, methods & practices, and computer simulation models to improve drilling fluids, working in synergy with Shareholders.
