Job Description
 

The Contract Manager will support the EMEA geomarket for the Product Contracting organization.  Primary responsibilities include leading the review, negotiation and administration of all contracts with existing and potential customers in order to mitigate risk and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and standards. The Contract Manager will report to the Regional Contract Manager EMEA, who reports to the Senior Manager Product Contracting. Product Contracting reports into Legal Operations.

Key duties will include:
 

  • Review, drafting, negotiation and management of customer revenue contracts within the scope of the Product Contracting - Legal Operations organization, in compliance with the internal Bid Standard and all Company Policies and Standards.
  • Support the Tender and the Sales Group in the contractual activities associated with customer’s tender requirements from receipt of tender enquiry to contract award.
  • Support the Project Group on contractual matters during the contract execution phase when so required.
  • Support the Management Team in the identification and assessment of all identified contractual risks and, when applicable, prepare and distribute Deviation Approval Forms in order to obtain the appropriate written approvals for any deviations from the Bid Standard.
  • When necessary, support and advise other departments on contractual matters.
  • Attend internal and external customer meetings via telephone, videoconference or in person.
  • Manage, maintain, and upload all assigned contractual and commercial documentation within the company’s proprietary Contracts Workspace system.
  • Report day to day activities to the Regional Contract Manager EMEA and the Product Contracting organization through Company’s reporting systems and other means.
  • Promote Compliance.
  • Provide training and workshops on Product Contracting policies, standards and methodologies to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support and collaborate with other Product Contracting team members. Participate in team meetings.

 

Requirements:

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or equivalent qualification in a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in commercial/contracts’ review matters, including in the oil and gas industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of contractual terms and conditions with the ability to identify and mitigate contractual risk.
  • Analytical and problem-solving, operational minded. Interprets internal and external business challenges with impact on the organization and recommends best practice solutions.
  • Participates in establishing global contract standards and ensures compliance, anticipating when to consult with other departmental functions.
  • Excellent ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive enquires. 
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet individual deadlines and manage priorities, as well as team deadlines. The employee must be able to work as part of a team, as well as manage a team if so required. 
  • Capacity to coordinate with various departments on several non-related matters. 
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is critical.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in ENGLISH and FRENCH.
  • Holder of an EU passport or valid French work permit.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and coaching, performance management, and respond appropriately.
  • Understanding and communication within diverse cultural environments is critical.

 

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • Jurist Doctorate or applicable Master’s degree.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in law and contracts’ standards applicable to the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in managing a small team.
  • Other languages such as Arabic.
