Project Materials and Welding Engineer
The Materials and Welding Engineer will report to the Materials and Welding Team Leader.
This is a residential role based in Muscat, Oman
Key accountabilities
- Project focal point for technical verification and oversight of Contractor during procurement of line-pipe and equipment in support of delivery of a safe, competitive and cost- effective systems.
- Review Contractor and supplier materials, welding and NDE documentation and verification that industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the appropriate Project standards are met.
- Draft ETP deviations under the direction of the Lead Materials and Welding Engineer when appropriate and provide an interface with Technical Authorities to ensure risks are identified and mitigated.
- Perform site visits and audits as required to assure materials qualification, production and tests conform to requirements.
- Provide guidance and direction to CONTRACTOR on specific technical issues related to materials specifications, qualification, production and testing.
- Technical support to other engineers in the materials and welding team to provide support in welding engineering, corrosion and erosion management.
Essential education A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Materials and/or Welding Engineering or the equivalent
Essential experience and job requirements
- Must have experience of specification, qualification and production/manufacture of duplex equipment and line-pipe.
- Must have extensive major project experience with strong design engineering/procurement background
- Must have detailed knowledge applicable Industry Codes and Standards
- Must have knowledge and experience in materials and welding engineering and knowledge of NDE techniques used in the manufacture and at fabrication sites
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- Must have strong planning and organizing ability
- A strong personal commitment to HSSE and a proven track record in working with contractors
- Demonstrate ability to influence based on technical understanding and justification
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Chartership or Professional Engineering Status
- Experience working in international teams
- Material and/or welding production experience
- Experience of procuring materials from the Far East
