POSITION TITLE:  Sourcing Specialist
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
LOCATION:  Houston, TX

We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas industry. Our client, a leading Petrochemical Company, is looking to hire a Sourcing Specialist for a permanent position based in Houston, TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Be the internal subject matter expert on strategy, negotiations, supplier management and purchasing policies and best practices
• Establish and maintain effective relationships and communications between the Supply Chain and Operations Team and Purchasing organizations
• Identify improvement opportunities and work to have them prioritized with internal clients
• Lead, participate, and facilitate cross-functional project teams and initiatives to analyze and implement solutions for complex and multi-dimensional problems
• Develop and implement Purchasing strategies for assigned projects and commodities, including leveraging global and regional opportunities through parents where possible
• Apply knowledge of Purchasing strategies and market dynamics to develop innovative solutions to meet both short-term and long-term supply requirements and resolve pricing/contract issues during negotiations
• Develop and gain approval of Commodity Acquisition Plans and lead negotiations for all assigned commodities and services
• Manage assigned commodities and the associated supplier relationships through the development and the maintenance of formal Commodity Strategies and Supplier Relationship Management Plans
• Provide high level of customer service and work effectively within a team environment at all levels within the company

 
 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain/Logistics or Business
• 5-8 years of related experience and continued professional development
• Experience with Data Warehouse and SAP
• Preferred: experience in the polymers industry
• Problem solving, organization and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to influence, mediate and negotiate
• Strong communication, negotiation and collaboration skills
• Microsoft Office skills – Excel especially
• Ability to identify trends in data and describe important findings clearly
• Experience utilizing railcar tracking software
