  • Location: Hassi Massaud and Algiers, Algeria
  • Employment Type: Contract. Rotational role (28 days on, 28 days off)
  • Duration: An initial duration of 2 years.

Background

Our client is a major oil and gas operator who has helped to deliver two major gas developments in Algeria.

This joint venture is one of the largest dry gas joint-venture projects in the country and involves the development of seven proven gas fields in the southern Sahara with a new development plan to maintain plateau production by developing the remaining four fields.

The field injected CO2 in 3 injectors for several years after the production start-up. The CO2 injection was shut down in 2012, and the process of fully closing down the project and satisfy all requirements is ongoing. Current activities involve surface and shallow wells monitoring, P&A of CO2 injectors and other wells, modelling of the CO2 pathways in the reservoir with a coupled reservoir/geomechanical model and evaluation of seismic reprocessing and other methods to confirm the current distribution of CO2.

As a result, the client is looking for an experienced Geoscientist / Reservoir Engineering Expert to lead the CCS effort.
