We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large Oil and Gas operator, is currently seeking a Utility Service Technician for a one year contract in Atikokan, ON . The individual must be local or have their own accommodations, as no LOA is given. The shift is Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
• Safe and efficient execution of Utility Service work including pipeline repairs and maintenance, valve work, construction inspection, customer and distribution station maintenance, meter work, appliance light-ups and relights, utilization inspections and infractions and other duties as required.
• Perform natural gas emergency response activities including line-breaks, leak and odour investigations, liaise with fire and police officials, TSSA Inspectors and others as required.
• Interact with external customers, maintaining a positive and professional manner that builds the Company image.
• Promote plant damage prevention awareness including third party observation activities.
• Perform high quality work in accordance with company standards and procedures.
• Will be required to wear and maintain company uniforms.
• Standby is required, and shift work may be required.
Must Have
• Must have a G2 Gas Fitter license
• Minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent and show an active interest in Utility Service work and be able to learn from experienced team members.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Currently hold and retain appropriate driver’s license and maintain satisfactory driving record.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn related company software.
• Candidates are required to progress satisfactorily through all internal progression steps
• Must meet District criteria for response while on standby and be prepared to work shifts as required.
• Must be physically capable to perform strenuous manual labour, be able to wear all appropriate safety equipment.
• Must reside in Atikokan or be able to relocate at own cost to Atikokan for the duration of this contract
• Must be able to travel throughout Atikokan, Fort Frances, Ignace and Dryden
• Must be able to work on-call every other week for emergency response.
Nice to have
• Post-secondary education in a technical field
• 1-3 years’ experience working with natural gas equipment or in a natural gas/heating or similar sector
• Able to obtain and maintain an Industrial Maintenance Technician (Utility Technician) Certificate and a Gas Pipeline Inspector's Certificate as established by the TSSA for natural gas distribution utilities within the required timeframe.
