GIS Analyst
Location: Houston (Downtown)
Department: Pipeline O&M
POSITION OVERVIEW
The GIS Analyst reports to the Compliance Manager and is responsible for managing the geospatial database records for the Department. The GIS Analyst will support and manage GIS applications based on business demands.
The GIS Analyst will assist in development of quality control standards for system applications, preform data capture and analysis, oversee data flow for and management/distribution and provide technical guidance for GIS standards and quality policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years professional experience in designing, programming, supporting, and implementing GIS applications preferably in a pipeline operations environment. Experience working in Integrity Management, Pipeline Operations environment preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage requests from internal business units in regards to geospatial mapping needs
- Acquire and integrate spatial datasets from outside sources
- Conduct data management, cataloging and inventory efforts
- Conduct spatial analyses - conversion and product creation using GIS software and subsystems
- Perform GIS data quality assessments for completeness; identifying and correcting data inaccuracies
- Coordinate GIS activities with engineering, internal team members and external outsourcers
- Provide support for GIS application development, integration, and implementation
- Diagnose and troubleshoot GIS software related issues
- Assist with training in various aspects of GIS software and database creation and use
- Participate in special projects as required

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have a working knowledge of the capabilities, methods, technical standards, and programming languages of GIS technology
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Experience in developing GIS standards in operations and database design
- Programming logic and code for use in GIS web applications
- Understanding of current developments, trends, and technologies within the GIS field
- Ability to interface with different systems like ArcGIS, AutoCad, MS Office, databases, Google Earth etc.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS
