Operational Risk Management and Process Safety Engineer / Canada

We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client is currently seeking an Operational Risk Management and Process Safety Engineer.

 

 This role is also responsible to provide engineering advice and solutions to address Process Safety Management (PSM) technical requirements, including performing analyses, investigations, inspections, and evaluations of compliance with policies, regulations, and company programs.
 

Accountabilities:

Operational Risk Management

• Ensure the Operational Risk Identification Process, documentation, and tools are sustained and are applied effectively within the organization
• Sustain and update the Operations Risk Register
• Provide process governance and technical subject matter expert guidance related to the Risk Management Process, tools, and methodologies
• Coordinate the communication and approval of Risk Management Process related information
• Perform quality review of Risk Management Process related submissions
• Manage and maintain the integrity of the Risk Register data and Risk Management Process related information and records
• Coordinate the quarterly Operational Risk Review process
• Lead and facilitate operating area risk review meetings
• Facilitate stakeholder discussions risk identification, analysis, evaluation, and treatment
• Sustain Risk Management Process metrics and reporting
• Develop and provide Operational Risk Management Process training at various levels of the organization
• Execute assurance activities for the Risk Management processes, considering regulatory, industry, and company standards and practices

 

Process Safety Management (PSM)

• Provide process safety engineering subject matter expertise (SME), advice and recommendations as part of participation in and/or review of process hazard analyses and risk analyses.
• Consult and advise related to process safety engineering considerations related to management of change (MOC) and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSRs)
• Lead and participate in process safety related incident investigations
• Monitor and assess Process Safety Management Program standards and practices for alignment with regulatory, industry, and company requirements
• Lead development and implementation of PSM continual improvement strategies
• Provide process safety engineering SME advice for and participate in PSM related assurance activities

 

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in process/chemical engineering or safety discipline or related engineering field with demonstrable technical experience in process safety management
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in risk management processes (e.g. ISO 31000)
• Working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment tools and methodologies
• Proven strong interpersonal skills and facilitation skills with diverse stakeholders
• 4 or more years of experience in oil and gas sector with specific knowledge of field operations
• Strong proficiency in business software applications including Microsoft Excel
• Proficiency in PHA Pro software suite is preferred

 

Additional Role Information

• Approximately 90% office based role with potential occasional requirement to travel to field locations
