We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large Oil and Gas operator, is currently seeking a Supply Planner for a contract role in Calgary, Alberta. The individual must be local or have their own accommodations, as no LOA is given. The shift is Monday-Friday.
Supply and Logistics team is seeking a Supply Planner to optimize the supply and inventory management of heavy oil products. Reporting to the Manager of Supply & Trading, the successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to take initiative and prioritize shifting requirements. Main objective of this role is to build and facilitate a plan that positions the right products in the right places at the right time across a continually expanding network while optimizing freight and storage costs.

Supply and Logistics team is seeking a Supply Planner to optimize the supply and inventory management of heavy oil products. Reporting to the Manager of Supply & Trading, the successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to take initiative and prioritize shifting requirements. Main objective of this role is to build and facilitate a plan that positions the right products in the right places at the right time across a continually expanding network while optimizing freight and storage costs.
Core Responsibilities:
- Optimization of Client site and 3rd party inventories into terminals and Sales Networks
- Familiarize with and learn new Refinery systems and their requirements
- Run analytics on logistics models to minimize current logistics costs and explore new opportunities with expanded network
- Re-Integrate personnel and processes into current supply plans
- Maintain an overall network view to ensure inventories are optimized and in the correct locations to meet forecasted sales
- Integrate, facilitate and optimize 3rd party purchases into Supply Plan
Daily Supply & Inventory Management:
- Responsible for developing Inventory Distribution plan for the Heavy Oil Network and ensuring that the plan is successfully achieved
- Integrate the Sales Forecast into the Supply plan and drive Supply out to terminals and wholesale markets
- Ensure plan is being executed through communication with refineries, terminals, and logistics personal
- Prioritize shipping locations as required. Driven by rack capacity, sales demand, and projected volumes
- Track and record inventory volumes at Client and 3rd party terminals
- Maintain the production plan on a weekly basis and host bi-weekly planning meetings
- Determine balance of terminal fill, retail, and wholesale sales volumes based on sales forecast and operations capacity
- Prepare forward outlook and forecasting on inventory positions
- Coordinate between the plant managers, sales, logistics representatives and the refinery to globally manage all product orders to the terminals
- Daily rail and truck operations support – work closely with logistics to balance movement of product
- Work with different groups with different priorities
Management of heavy oil supply inventory reconciliation:
- Direct contact for all 3rd party suppliers:
- Liaise between 3rd parties and logistics to manage inbound supply
- Reconciliation of exchange and supply agreement volumes
- Provide necessary 3rd party records to accounting
- Track and report on all 3rd party inventory volumes
Reporting:
- Update the Crude Run Forecast monthly
- Update the Position Report monthly
- Update the Asphalt Nominations Monthly
- Provide mid-month estimates and submit volume accruals
- Create and manage inventory and supply dashboards
- Create and report on supply and operational related KPI’s
- Responsible for updating terminal contracts (freight, handling fees, fuel surcharge)
Must have qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years' experience
- Strong Excel and Excel modelling skills
Nice to have qualifications:
- Previous supply chain experience
- Bachelor of Commerce degree
