Job Description:
This is a program manager role for a B.S. level chemical engineer or higher with at least 2 or more years of job experience in a technical role.  While an advanced degree is not required for the position, experience credit will be granted for completion of an M.S. or Ph.D. The engineer should preferably have experience as a program manager that is responsible for leading technical programs to identify and execute “move-the-dial” improvements to quality, OEE, operating costs, process safety, and/or productivity at a commercial chemical manufacturing site. 

The engineer should be able to apply fundamental engineering principles, practices, and procedures to solve problems of increasing complexity.  The engineer should be able to work independently and be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.  The candidate must successfully demonstrate this company's core values: Care, Curiosity, Courage, Collaboration, Humility, Integrity, and Transparency.


This job includes the following duties:
  • Create mass and energy balances
  • Use engineering fundamentals to evaluate the performance of existing equipment
  • Use engineering fundamentals to correctly size equipment, piping and instrumentation
  • Create instrument specification sheets
  • Create and/or revise P&IDs and PFDs
  • Work with other Engineering disciplines to refine equipment and instrument specification sheets
  • Generate process alternatives, if required, to meet process and economic requirements
  • Review equipment drawings from vendors and submit corrections and/or modifications, as needed
  • Revise and/or create DCS programming documentation
  • Revise and/or create operating procedures
  • Calculate emissions from the equipment
  • Create reports, as needed
  • Communicate with Operations, R&D, Technology Resources, Business, and HSE concerning the items above.
  • Work with technology and operations engineers to identify, develop, and execute on “move-the-dial” improvement opportunities for Albemarle operating units
Education:  Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering
Experience:  Desired:  5-10 year in Chemical Engineering
