Position
The Client is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Major Construction Contracts Manager to work on the project execution phase expected to last approximately 48 months. The position will be a part of the The Client Major Project Management Team (PMT) based in Houston, Texas, USA to start and transition to Port Arthur as site construction starts to ramp up.
Responsibilities:
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for helping to develop the overall contracting strategy and managing it throughout the project including, but not limited to the following activities:
Education and Qualifications:
The Client is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Major Construction Contracts Manager to work on the project execution phase expected to last approximately 48 months. The position will be a part of the The Client Major Project Management Team (PMT) based in Houston, Texas, USA to start and transition to Port Arthur as site construction starts to ramp up.
Responsibilities:
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for helping to develop the overall contracting strategy and managing it throughout the project including, but not limited to the following activities:
- Adherence and compliance to the contract by both the Contractor and MPO personnel
- Administering the contract including correspondence, change management, progress payments, variation orders, document interpretations, MPO reviews and approvals throughout the project life-cycle from detailed engineering to Project closeout
- Review and comment on Contractor deliverables including key plans and procedures
- Aid in the formulation of the EPC contracts, analysis of funded liabilities, flow downs and other terms and conditions.
- Aid in the negotiation and agreement of EPC/EPCM contract terms and condition as well as advise on overall limit of liability, liquidated damages, etc. to support the execution strategy
- Identify risks and provide input into the mitigation strategies required for contractual issues that reduce risks involving the Project Director, The Client MPO Legal and other departments, as deemed appropriate
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree in a relevant discipline
- 10 + years’ experience in major EPC projects in the petroleum industry, with 10 years spent in a supervisory or management position
- Strong competence in Chemical plant EPC/EPCM contracts is required
- Worked for both the Client and Contractor organizations within project teams, preferred
- Experience issuing correspondence as well as managing change and claims
- Experience in full cycle contracting including tendering, tender evaluations, clarifications and strong negotiating skills
- Team player with proven management and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to prepare reports and presentations for management
- Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to build relationships quickly in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environments
- Willing to see the project through to completion
- Travel to various locations throughout the project including Contractor’s execution locations, suppliers’ facilities, module fabrication yards, FST conversion yard and The Client site, as required
