Description
• Work in close cooperation with the Portfolio Manager, Project Manager and Project Engineer.
• Monitor project cost and revenue data on an ongoing basis.
• Perform financial analyses and issue reports on project and portfolio levels. Detect variance of actual versus budgeted costs and diagnosing the causes of such variations.
• Support and contribute in economic and commercial matters. Be familiar with the commercial aspects of the contract with the Client.
• Maintain contract rates in all relevant documents and systems.
• Maintain an updated list of the portfolio of projects with general information of status, client, PO/VO/SO, budget and other relevant information.
• Assist Project Manager and/or Project Engineer with preparation of project estimates and forecasting.
• Assist Project Manager and/or Project Engineer with VORs by preparing accumulated committed client cost reports and review of VORs for approval.
• Establish budget values in cost control systems, baseline and update in accordance with PO/VO/SO.
• Reconcile accrued income with remaining PO value and issue preliminary invoice for approval by the Project Manager.
• Issue sales invoices to clients in accordance with the contract requirements. File invoices and backup information.
• Establish projects in cost control system according to the Application of Project Number form.
• Establish project activities in cost control systems in cooperation with the Project Manager and the Planner.
• Open and close activities in cost control systems in accordance with instructions from Project Manager and Planning.
• Participate in the project close out procedure by verifying that all billable costs are invoiced and paid by the client and that all project activities are closed in the system.
• Quality check and final authorise weekly man-hours and travel expenses for onshore and offshore project personnel in accordance with the contract with the client. Monitor the use of correct report codes and report any variations to Project Manager and employee.
• Review and authorize third party incoming invoices according to the authorisation matrix and implemented procedures.
Participate in portfolio status meetings driven by the Portfolio Manager.
Report relevant KPIs to Cost Control Lead. Prepare other periodic reports and ad hoc analyses as delegated by the Cost Control Lead in accordance with format stipulated by project, DFE Management or client requirements.
Be knowledgeable of financial regulations for the sector.
Support audit processes with required documentation. Work closely with other project departments, e.g. Planning, Procurement, Document Control and Accounting.
Take active part in Change Control processes in the project. Have a proactive approach to improvements, making suggestions of more efficient ways of operating.
Report to Cost Control Lead all matters of importance.
Any other reasonable cost control duties as specified by the Cost Control Lead.
Requirements
Bachelor degree in Business, Economics or Finance but relevant experience can substitute academic requirements
For Cost Controller positions a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience is required, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
Effective communication skills at all organizational levels
Fluent in English oral and written
Structured, analytical and proactive work attitude
