The API pilot plant is key to the operations onsite and we are looking for a Mechanical Technician (Pilot Plant) to be part of this multi-disciplinary team. Working with chemistry, quality and engineering functions to take responsibility for carrying out mechanical engineering operations within the facility.
This is an exciting phase in the growth of the UK facility and the ongoing expansion and investment will provide the opportunity to influence and improve operations. This is a hands on role, maintaining chemical reactors, specialist equipment and utilities that support a pharmaceutical plant.

Key roles and responsibilities
- Take ownership of corrective and routine maintenance in the pilot plant facility
- Respond to emergency breakdowns
- Ensure that maintenance schedules are kept up to date and that work is carried out in a timely manner
- Work on small projects where required, including input to design, installation & commissioning (new equipment or alterations)
- Raise orders for supplies as required
- Constantly seek new, innovative and cost efficient methods of completing the work without compromising safety or quality
- Ensure all work is properly planned, documented to GxP requirements and completed in a timely fashion, including updates to the CMMS (Maximo)
- Ensure that all work is carried out to the highest standards of safety and be proactive in addressing and raising potential issues
- Liaise directly with all stakeholders, to minimize disruptions and to keep them informed of progress and expected completion targets
- Issuing of work place permits for both internal and external personnel, including review of RAMS
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Qualified journeyman in appropriate Engineering/Mechanical discipline
- City & guilds accredited
- Experience gained in a multi skilled or mechanical apprenticeship
- Knowledge of production processes, fault diagnosis and repair, plumbing and pipework, heating systems, HVAC, pumps and valves, Building Management Systems, scrubbers, R/O and softening plant
- Good documentation and record keeping
- Mechanical problem-solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication management
- Ability to produce clear succinct reports
- Up-to-date with relevant industry advances and developments
