We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, a large Oil and Gas operator, is currently seeking a Control Systems Network EIT/ Junior Analyst in Edmonton. The individual must be local or have their own accommodations, as no LOA is given. The shift is Monday-Friday.
We are seeking an energetic individual for an entry level position that is:
Responsibilities:
• Assist various engineering and operational personnel in support of projects, operations, strategic initiatives, and business processes
• Assist department staff with troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues related to project development and operational issues
• Assist department staff with in-house projects such as engineering communications drawing updates, control system software and documentation updates, physical configuration of communication devices (primarily firewalls and switches), and sustainment of asset tracking databases for control systems equipment
• Perform quality control on asset data and ensure engineering standards and specifications are followed
• Assist department staff with the configuration and testing of automation assets in the lab
• Assist department staff in development and implementation of business process automation
• Provide technical support to Site Operations and other Engineering groups
• Manage and execute small projects
Must have:
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering OR a relevant Information Technology, Computer Systems or Computer Science diploma from a recognized technical institution
• Working knowledge of networking, IPv4 subnetting, routing and switching
• Working knowledge of various communications protocols such as TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, NTP, Telnet, SSH, ICMP, SNMP, Modbus TCP
• Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office products such as Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio, Powerpoint, and SharePoint
• Ability to learn quickly and absorb a lot of technical knowledge
• Ability to take initiative and maintain high standards of work
• Strong written and oral communication abilities
• Strong organizational and time management skills
Nice to have:
• Familiarity with management of change processes in an industrial environment is beneficial
• Experience with Cisco and Check Point hardware and software is an asset
• Experience with Solarwinds products is beneficial
• CCENT, CCNA, or CCSA certification is highly desirable but not expected
• Ability to interpret engineering communication drawings and network communication drawings is an asset
• Basic knowledge of industrial instrumentation, control systems, and industrial networking is beneficial
• Basic programming skills
Working conditions:
• Engineering office environment with an assigned cubicle, computer, and telephone
• Work will be conducted under the supervision of a Professional Engineer
