Our Client, a large oil and gas company, is seeking a materials coordinator for a 1 year contract in Calgary.
The Materials Coordinator will perform andor manage all of the activities necessary to enable effective end-to-end coordination of materials in support of Projects. Acts as the interface between the business unit and procurement. Actively interacts with planning, inventory, vendors, buyers and maintenance on a daily basis by providing customer support, effective & timely communication, alignment with business practices/controls and a high level of materials and services fulfillment for site maintenance activities.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• This position is a track lead for a Procurement Supply Chain project, focusing on process development and re-development of existing processes, training, and documenting work procedures for various positions supporting the materials management process, from requirements planning to delivery of materials to the business line end user
• Ability to understand project vision and business requirements, and deliver project requirements in a timely manner
• Create and update process flow charts in MS Visio
• Previous experience in creating training documents and delivering training workshops to various levels of individuals across different functions
• Previous experience creating work procedures/job aids for various positions in the materials management process (planning interface, requisitioning, expediting and logistics, and warehousing functions (kitting/staging, deliveries, returns/repairs))
• Knowledge and previous experience in the following processes are assets and preferred: planning, scheduling, requisitioning, expediting, and warehousing functions (kitting/staging, deliveries, returns/repairs)
• Ability to work in a business environment, both individually and in a team setting, to achieve project goals and deliverables
• Strong communication skills required to liaise between the business line, project team, and supply chain operations team
• Ability to multi-task and manage various requirements to support project needs
• Ability to take initiative and attention to detail is required
• Previous experience in change management is an asset
In addition to all Level 1 and 2 tasks and responsibilities, Level 3:
• Identify opportunities for material master creation to reduce free texting for recurring material orders
• Assist in the management of equipment spare parts lists
• Participate/lead risk assessments and hazard observations
• Provide support to business and planning organization by verifying that site requirements for non-core services vendors are addressed before vendor arrives at site (i.e. safety training, travel and room accommodations, vehicle pass)
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• 10-15 years of closely related professional experience
• Bachelors’ degree required
• Extensive knowledge of SAP material catalogs and search tools
• Extensive knowledge of how and where materials are used in the plant
• Advanced time management skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Advanced written and oral communications skills
• Influencing with and without authority
• Organization skills
