Automation and Process Control Engineer

Reporting to the Automation and Process Control Technical Lead, this Engineer will work on a wide range of process control systems within the manufacturing operations, facilities and utilities areas.
Working within a 24/7 shift roster, the work on PLC and Microprocessor controlled systems will be ‘hands on’ and encompass corrective and preventive maintenance tasks and be very much focused on continuous improvement supporting the other Engineering and Operations Teams. The role will also support the design and specification aspects on new capital projects, process improvement or the re-engineering of existing systems. They will at times work on self-managed projects as well as being a key technical representative on large engineering project teams.
The Engineer will be resourceful and will identify and implement value improvement opportunities and will be a key technical resource in a high volume, highly regulated, healthcare operation.

Duties:
- Support colleagues within the Maintenance Team in timely root cause identification and resolution of control and instrumentation issues
- Take active role in key process improvement projects.
- Manage minor system automation and control projects.
- Provide technical expertise on key engineering projects
- Develop technical specifications around instrumentation and control
- Expand the knowledge base of others within the Maintenance Engineering Team by identifying training needs and both directly and indirectly provide this training.
- Degree in electrical, electronic or control systems engineering or equivalent.
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar field
- High degree of competency in PLC operation and philosophy, hardware and Software (ideally Allen Bradley)
- Systematic root cause analysis and fault finding within complex control systems
- Experience with Schematics Wiring and Circuitry
- Experience with Automation, robotics and Servo Loop controls
- Knowledge/experience of GMP
- Experience in the area of SCADA, Process Control Systems, HMI & Distributed Control
- Working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience of working in a validated environment, with validation document generation experience
- Knowledge/experience of vision systems
- Competency in IT hardware troubleshooting and repair
