We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas industry. Our client, a large oil and gas operator, is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to be based in 3 month contract. This is field based position, 1-2 shifts per week with 12 hour days; FIFO from Calgary/Edmonton/LaCory.

- Perform routine and non-routine chemical and physical analysis in support of stakeholder requirements
- Comply with established QMS and QC/QA procedures and accredited methodology in the labs
- Ensure instruments are calibrated and chemical inventory is stocked
- Troubleshoot instrument/technical issues and associated documentation
- Participate in writing and updating Standard Operating Procedures
- Ensure daily Quality Assurance and Quality Control is performed, documented and charted for all lab instruments and/or equipment
- Execute responsibilities according to Safety Commitments by complying to safety policies and procedures, escalating unsafe work and identifying safety concerns

- 6-8+ years lab experience
- ISO/IEC 17025:2005 knowledge
- Chemical Technology diploma or University degree
- Excellent troubleshooting and procedural skills, specifically for ICP, GC (SCD), H2S, Cl & KF Auto-titrators, Densitometer’s, Viscometers, XRD, Gravimetric, Colorimetric, Potentiometric analysis
- Preference given to individuals with specific experience on Varian/Bruker/Scion GC’s preferable (GC software Star, Galaxy, Compass CDS).-Excellent time management, interpersonal, documentation and organizational skills
- Proficient with standard software including LIMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. is preferred
- Experience in the oil & gas industry-Experience in the SAGD industry and understanding this process would be an asset
- High safety standards
- Team oriented and self-motivated in a dynamic environment
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Subject to the requirements of alcohol and drug policy, including pre-assignment screening, as this is a safety sensitive position
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
