Role:
During the planning phase, the Operations Geologist will put together geological programme, and support the development of other documents such as the Detailed Drilling Programme.
During the drilling phase, the Operations Geologist will act as the conduit for geological information to and from the wellsite, and the Geoscience Department. You will receive twice daily reports from the oil rigs, pass the most up to date information between the office team and the wellsite team, and attend daily and weekly meetings to brief technical and managerial staff. This position is also responsible for ensuring that all geological contractors mobilise at the correct time. 24 hour on call availability may also be required during certain stages of the operation.
This position will be based in Norwich but will entail some UK based travel to engage with group, UKCS regulator and partners in Aberdeen or London.
Key responsibilities include:
? Responsible for input into the DECC Well Operations and Notifications System (WONS) of Applications for Consent to Marine Survey/Drill/Complete/Abandon as required, including Notification of Spud
? Review and optimise Well Evaluation requirements and programmes in conjunction with Subsurface and Operations teams
? Assist in the identification of drilling hazards through the interpretation of seismic data and offset well records
? Provide a Geological Programme to complement the Detailed Drilling Programme
? Interpret sand evaluates subsurface geologic/geophysical data for subsurface maps and cross section construction
? Assist with formation top confirmation and casing point selection
? Update structural and isopach interpretations from review of MWD and open hole log data
? Maintain appropriate digital databases
? Participate in morning rig calls, planning meetings, DWOPs, etc
? Supervise and monitor performance of Mudlogging service provider
? Provide assistance and peer review for the Wellsite Geologist
? Provide day-to-day support to the Operations Team
? Review and approve all Geological ‘End of Well’ reports and logs
Qualifications / Experience:
? Geology Degree
? Knowledge of Geological software applications, IP, Petrel, REP, ArcGIS of benefit
? Familiarity of probabilistic volumetric analysis techniques
? Extensive SNS operations geology experience
? Strong written communication skills and report writing skills
