We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the Oil, Gas and Chemicals Industry. Our client, a Leading Global Chemical Manufacturer, is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for a permanent position to be based in Houston, TX area.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is the Electrical Specialist and technical authority on the project.

The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Formulating the engineering design definition with the FEED contractors and oversight of contractor design performance
  • Reviewing and optimizing the design of electrical systems – main power, emergency power and UPS systems
  • Optimizing the electrical design for modularization including integrated modules with electrical enclosures
  • Reviewing and comment on engineering and design deliverables and equipment selections from vendors
  • Preparing reports and evaluations of electrical designs.
  • Review and comment on constructability, modularization and participate in execution planning
  • Review and comment on construction deliverables
  • Aid in the establishment of the assurance programs for large motors
  • Work with QA to establish the quality control requirements and testing programs for electrical equipment
  • Review and comment of quantities, costs and prices of the equipment and the works, with a focus on cost efficiency to meet required cost targets
  • Participating in commissioning & start-up planning and review and comment of commissioning deliverables
Technical Skills
  • Successful track record of project management and delivery
  • Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques required
  • Experience with and knowledge of safety and quality management systems,
  • Excellent budgeting and cost control skills,
  • In depth understanding of project development process, track record of effective project schedule management,
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, standards and regulations used in North America
  • Behavioral Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (upward, lateral, and downward)
  • Effective organization and management of work teams
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

 Requirements 

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, or Control Systems, advanced degree a plus
  • A minimum 15 years’ experience in engineering and significant project management experience within the chemical industry.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing engineering and/or technical support personnel
  • Experience with design of Power Systems for Heavy Industrial Installations
  • Experience with the Electrical System design, System Studies, Relay Coordination, Protection & Control
  • Experience in successfully delivering major capital projects and negotiating the associated contracts
  • Some experience in managing EPC Technical Teams a plus
