Our client, an Oil & Gas Exploration & Production Company is looking for a position of Senior Technical Safety Engineer. Position based in Dubai.
Key Account abilities
Produce engineering deliverable s of Technical Safety discipline required for Project execution.
Assist Project Management to assess risks quantitatively, while making major engineering decisions.
Perform as the Technical Authority on Fire Protection and Safety Engineering issues of offshore installation.
Develop and maintain CLIENT's safety engineering philosophies, safety specifications, equipment specifications and monitor contractor/vendor compliance to these.
Propose engineering solutions to safety issues on offshore installations or within engineering design to improve safety.
Deliver the safety studies required to ensure that projects and change proposals carried out for Assets are compliant with CLIENT requirements and regulatory obligations.
Support Project Engineer to define safety scope of work, philosophies and deliverables requirements for new projects. Evaluate proposals from contactors and vendors when necessary.
Support Contracts and Procurement to hire safety consultants and contractors.
Ensure timely delivery by consultants.
Contribute to Project's Risk Register by identifying major safety risk to Project execution.
Conduct safety assessments like Hazard Identification Studies ('HAZID'), Hazard and Operability Study ('HAZOP'), in-house fire and gas radiation and dispersion calculations using DNV Phast and Construction Risk Assessment.
Coordinate external specialist consultants' safety studies such as Quantitative
Risk Assessment ('QRA'), Fire and Explosion Assessment ('FERA') and
Emergency, Escape and Rescue Assessment ('EERA').
Carryout active and passive fire protection assessments including, but not limited to, fire protection philosophies, fire water demand schedules, fire water adequacy checks, hydraulic calculations using PIPENET spray/sprinkler module and fire water system adequacy checks and performance monitoring.
Promote initiatives to improve cost effectiveness and efficiency of engineering solutions and assist Head of Engineering with department objectives and budget.
Promote programmes to update technical safety knowledge of CLIENT.
Ensure and maintain a good relationship and communication with internal and external clients.
Educational Qualifications:
A degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a post graduate qualification in Technical Safety Engineering.
Experience Profile:
Minimum experience of 10 years with both design and operating company experience.
Competencies/Skills/Others:
Full understanding of international safety codes and standards and the theory behind them
Pragmatic and self-motivated; able to work under tight deadlines.
