Environmental Specialist - Indonesia

My client is urgently seeking International Environmental Specialist/Scientist, who is able to help us grow their environment business in Southeast Asia (business development) but also able to work on projects. This is a mid-level role with 7-10 years experience. Budget is in the region of $80k-$85k salary (net) and other expatriate allowances (accommodation, etc) and to be based in Jakarta.


Position Purpose:

The Environmental Scientist is responsible for undertaking varied consultancy tasks of reasonable scope and complexity with some direction and guidance of more senior staff members. The holder of this position provides broad technical knowledge in the environment sector and effective project management skills to support the ongoing activities (onshore and offshore) of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. The Environmental Scientist will be based in SEA.

The holder of this position will be required to travels within of South-East Asia / Pacific (approximately half of the time) and contributes to the development and production of project deliverables as part of the team.


Key Accountabilities:

1. Apply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely manner
2. Develop, implement and advise on policies and plans for managing and protecting the environment on client projects and assignments
3. Collaborate with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
4. Build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally and contribute to effective client relationship management
5. Contribute to the commercial success of projects and the team.



Education & Formal Qualifications

* Tertiary degree in Science or a related discipline
* Member of relevant professional or corporate body (desirable)


Experience

Has the demonstrated ability to consistently:

* Succeed in a similar role with typically, 3-4 years of relevant professional experience, post-qualification
* Demonstrate technical experience in professional environment, across broad technical areas
* Independently use basic theoretical knowledge of scientific principles to analyse, interpret and conclude on standard matters or decisions
* Identify risk and prepare technical reports/proposals for small to medium projects
* Undertake field work and key technical tasks independently across a broad range of small to medium profile projects
* Monitor and manage the scope and risk of multiple varying size projects and apply business systems successfully
* Plan workloads and meet deadlines within budget
* Successfully and effectively manage client relationships and expectations


Skills and Knowledge

* Well- developed problem solving/analytical skills.
* Demonstrated familiarity with and understanding of relevant Australian Standards and legislation.
* Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and ability to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment.
* Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly in a team environment.
* Ability to work effectively across a variety of projects by applying new knowledge and learning new skills quickly and efficiently.
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Basic to sound understanding of CRM principles.
* Computer literacy with proficiency in a variety of computer programs.
* Sound understanding, or ability to rapidly acquire a sound understanding, of organisational capability and business systems, including how to access it using available resources.

Location: Indonesia

Salary Package: $80,000 - $85,000 USD Per Annum and other expatriate allowances (accommodation, etc) and to be based in Jakarta.
