Our client, a Leading Global Chemical Manufacturer, is seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer to support a high value greenfield, chemicals project for a permanent position to be based in Houston, TX area.
Responsibilities
The incumbent is the Control Specialist and technical authority on the project. The jobholder will be responsible for a wide range of activities throughout front end loading, detailed engineering and construction of the overall project. The post holder will be the Control System specialist and/or technical authority on the project.
Technical Skills
Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Control Systems or Chemical Engineering, advanced degree a plus

Technical Skills
- Process control engineering experience including implementing and maintaining regulatory control and/or multi-variable control strategies on DCS preferred
- Advanced Process Control experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of the application, specification, and installation of tagged field instruments
- Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques required
- Experience in the following helpful:
- Inspection and testing of instrumentation items
- Instrument installation requirements
- Safety and quality management systems
- Chemical operations, maintenance operations, and associated regulations
- Solid understanding of unit operations
- Excellent budgeting and cost control skills
- Exceptional understanding of project development process
- Ability to serve as Electrical Lead Subject Matter Expert for FEL 2 a plus
Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Control Systems or Chemical Engineering, advanced degree a plus
- A minimum 15 years’ experience in engineering and significant project management experience within the chemical industry.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing engineering and/or technical support personnel
- Experience in successfully delivering major capital projects and negotiating the associated contracts
- Some experience in managing EPC Technical Teams a plus
- Possesses and displays leadership attributes while demonstrating a self-directed and results oriented attitude
- Excellent communication skills (upward, lateral, and downward)
- Effective organization and management of work teams
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Judge many complex tasks simultaneously, while still identifying the critical issues
- Team builder, problem solver, and change agent
