Mechanical Engineer - Nottingham
My client is an award winning, global company who design and develop software and electro-mechanical systems in supply to the automotive, aerospace and various technology sectors. My client is looking to add to their skillset with an experienced Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in automotive and vehicle drivetrain transmission design and development.
The role will provide the opportunity to have a wide range of exposure to global leaders in the engineering industry and actively support innovative projects.

Responsibilities
- Contributing to and taking technical leadership of aspects of our projects in
- Drivetrain design, review & optimisation
- Drivetrain development troubleshooting (e.g. durability, vibration, efficiency failures)
- Delivering technical work
- Concept design development
- Rotating machinery (e.g. gearbox, motors, actuators) design
- Creating drawings of drivetrain components and assemblies
- Liaising with manufacturers and test houses to deal with non-conformances and development issues
- Specifications of parts and supplier liaison
- Developing PDS documents and test requirements
- Discussions with customers in meetings and web-meetings
- Supporting sales
- Writing proposals for project work
- Project delivery
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or other relevant discipline
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the automotive industry
- Strong understanding of the development process for transmissions or similar complex mechanical components
- Exceptional working knowledge of simulation technology such as FE analysis, CAE, gear design software
- Sound knowledge of manufacturing for mechanical components to the extent of creating transmission component drawings and can liaise with manufacturers
- Capability to build, technical leadership in the design of electro- mechanical systems
- Willingness to travel internationally if necessary
- Attitude to be ‘hands on’ when necessary
- Experience in drivetrains in the automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, rail and marine
- Paying up to £40,000 for the ideal candidate
