We are a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse world-wide client base within the oil & gas Industry. Our client, is currently seeking an Lab Technician based in the Grande Prairie area.

- Support Coordinator, Lab, with lab operation, safety, environmental systems and issues, ISO/IEC 17025 and LIMS implementation and maintenance
- Third party lab data management and invoice coding
- Support stakeholders on projects, R&D and operations optimization
- Knowledge of plant areas and work teams, know where to find historical data, full understanding of document retention, report approver when necessary
- Support Coordinator, Lab on projects and operation optimization
- Proven ability to troubleshoot instrument and procedure problems
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable company prescribed software and programs
- Writes, reviews and revises Standard Operating Procedures
- Carry out routine and non-routine lab testing and data entry, when necessary
- Thorough understanding of testing procedures and instruments
- Ensure daily Quality Assurance and Quality Control is performed, documented and charted for all lab instruments and/or equipment
- Troubleshoot instrument/technical issues along with the resulting documentation
- Identify issues that impact safety, environment and/or production
- Report any safety issues that come up and help contribute to ideas for avoiding accidents and improving the overall safety at the Foster Creek facility
- Maintains records of reference standards and materials used
- Maintains all reference materials, standards, instrument and/or product certificates
- Verify test methods and reference standards are in accordance with the Lab standards
- Look for and lead efforts to improve processes and procedures
- Support any other business requirements determined by the Coordinator, Lab
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the company’s Alcohol and Drug policy which includes pre-assignment testing
- 2-5 years lab experience
- ISO/IEC 17025:2005 knowledge an asset
- SAGD, Petroleum Laboratory and Water Testing experience ideally suited for the role
- Experience with reading and working with Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID)
- A University Science Degree (BSc) or Technical Diploma in Chemical Technology
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to contribute within a strong team environment
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Detail oriented and self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks
