Our Client is currently seeking a Planning Engineer for a contract based position in Edmonton, Alberta.

- This position will focus on providing planning and forecasting of current and future scope, data analysis, and creating, implementing, and maintaining software solutions as required for the department, consisting of:
- Creating, maintaining, modifying, and implementing new PowerBI and low code apps / reports and data collection;
- Project Planning – program planning ranging from one year to 10 years based on PI, FI, and other department’s requirements; Analyzing department data, identifying gaps, recommending solutions, and creating and implementing new software systems, reports, and data warehousing.
- Improving the overall data management & information reporting systems within the department
- Frequency of updates to be weekly or as determined by management;
- Content of report will be reviewed and specified by management;
- Responsible for the code / scripts that extract, transform, clean, & move data from various data sources in the department into PowerBI (or other software platforms such as a “low code app” used by the department);
- Identify and develop new reports and / or analysis (self-identified improvements) for the department;
- Communicate effectively and frequently with department personnel as their requests are being fulfilled; be responsive and available to client concerns, issues, feedback, and questions; Provide coaching and instruction on new software, reports, and information systems;
- Analyze scope and schedule reports from external sponsors (Pipeline integrity, Facility Integrity, etc.,), plan execution timeframes for the scope, on an annual and ten year timeframe:
- Work with sponsors to identify and correct any data deficiencies;
- Develop, maintain and improve, metrics for scope execution timeframes;
- Create and/or set baselines of annual scope that can be comparatively analyzed (on a monthly basis) and displayed in PowerBI; o Analysis and identify gaps in information / data generated from other departments (Environment, Land Services, Regulatory, PI, FI etc.,);
- Develop and maintain scope variance reports as requested by management;
- Ensure schedule information used for reports is accurately compiled;
- Ensure information systems can manage schedule information to the detailed required by the
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience as a data analyst, software engineer, and project engineering;
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
- Adept at queries, report and procedure writing and presenting findings;
- Technical expertise regarding data models development, data mining, data warehousing and segmentation techniques;
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (MS PowerPivot, MS PowerView etc.), databases (excel, access, SQL etc.), programming (MS Visio), MS PowerBI, MS Power Apps or other low code apps;
- BS in Mathematics, Commerce, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or Statistics;
- Advanced knowledge with MS Office 2010, 2013, and 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point) and MS SharePoint;
- Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS PowerBI, MS Power Apps skills;
