Technical Product Manager


The Technical Product Manager will assist the Project Manager with business data and process analysis. The role pairs excellent communication and time management skills with analytical and reporting skills.

 

Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyze business data to prioritize scope for projects in pipeline
  • Assist with data cleansing and analysis, as needed
  • Develop benefits case and reporting project status
  • Develop opportunities with Business to optimize processes
  • Collaborate with business customers to monitor process performance as improvements are implemented, ensuring return on investment is realized
  • Create methodology and track metrics for project benefits analysis
  • Build engagement and trust of key project members, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and decision makers across various functions and product lines
  • Self-confidence to ask insightful questions to understand and challenge ideas to make sure the business solution is solid; strong overall business acumen will help resource to be successful.
  • Recommends and oversees process improvements
  • Consult with senior leadership and provide analysis and advice on a variety of performance and process related topics
  • Research and implement industry organizational change management best practices
  • Assist with the development of process diagrams/flow charts, training materials, Organizational Change Management (OCM) communications, business requirements, and user stories
  • Provide training and guidance to assist with the implementation and maintenance of process improvement activities
  • Support in the coordination of major events, such as kick-off, design meetings, testing cycles, webinars and go-lives.
  • Assist in the development of a post implementation support scheme
  • Provide communication, education and demonstration of the product to Engineering SMEs and Business units to shorten the Business’ learning curve and increase adoption
  • Assume responsibility for performing project reporting and data analysis functions
  • Track, analyze and communicate project risks and opportunities
  • Performs administrative duties such as documenting meeting minutes, record decisions and next steps, and updating project records
  • Translate project objectives into tasks
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Make sure deliverables are aligned with the goals and objectives requested
 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree - Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience analyzing data to prioritize activities
  • Experience of working effectively within a team
  • Experience in planning and schedule management
  • Hands-on experience with flowcharts, technical documentation and schedules
  • Ability to work under tight timelines
  • Ability to communicate well with data owners and report to project managers
  • Ability to track metrics
  • Ability to follow guidelines
  • Ability to learn new systems and business processes quickly
  • Ability to look at data from multiple perspectives
  • Experience with both waterfall and agile project management methodologies
 

 

Must Have Skills:

  • MS Excel Advanced User – formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, Power Pivot, VBA macros
  • MS Project Intermediate to Advanced User – Gantt chart, critical path, resource leveling, earned value analysis
  • MS SharePoint Intermediate to Advanced User - understand databases, permissions, lists, libraries, check in/out
  • MS PowerPoint Intermediate to Advanced User – layout/graphics, animations, embedding files
  • MS Visio Basic – create swim lane flowcharts
  • Ability to multi-task and manage in a cross-functional environment (IT, Sales, Applications Engineering, Costing, Engineering, Manufacturing)
  • Excellent communication skills
