Job Description/Major Duties (general job functions, responsibilities, day-to-day tasks & activities)
The Well Services Site Manager (Well Test) will be responsible for the co-ordination and operation of Well Test and or Flow-back Operations.
The Well Services Site Manager (Well Test) responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Coordinates and supervises the activities of all Well Test or Flow Back equipment and any associated Well Service intervention units related to the implementation of the program.
- Manages and is responsible for HES at the wellsite.
- Assume the duties of the Well Services Site Supervisor (WSSS), when WSSM is not on location
- Ensure the Well Test and or Flow-back operations are performed by the service companies in accordance with the agreed procedures.
- Ensures on-site understanding of project expectations and daily work plan as well as proper implementation of the Well Test plan through the use of communication tools such as pre-job, safety, and daily review meetings.
- Ensures that that his supervisor is well informed of all worksite activities identifying any area for improvement.
- Work in conjunction with the contractor to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and the environment.
- Forewarn relevant authorities and associated services of the intention to conduct Well Test and or Flow-back operations with the intent to produce / control release of hydrocarbons.
- Ensure the well control throughout the program.
- Ensure the permit to work system is understood and strictly followed.
- Conduct pre-test safety meetings, reviewing all procedures, potential hazards, contingency planning and personnel responsibilities.
- Coordinate reporting to Company, Head Office.
- Act as technical advisor to the Company WSSM.
- Be responsible for call-out and scheduling all the equipment necessary for Well Test and or Flow-back operations.
- Ensure QA/QC is performed by evaluating and approving well services intervention equipment: coiled tubing, pumping, slick/wire line, etc.
- Ensure all preliminary tests and inspections are carried out on all the equipment.
- Ensure the permit to work system is strictly followed and understood by all contractors / parties involved.
- Direct supervision of the service company in preparation and execution of the program.
- Coordinate collection of reservoir fluid samples (if required), monitor flow back operation.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of collected data.
- Make recommendations on the program when well behavior is not as expected. The final decision to make any program alterations will be taken by the Company Head Office.
- Discuss and agree the execution of Well Test and or Flow-back program with the Oxy WSSM.
- Issue work instructions for each activity of the program.
- Be responsible for coordinating the preparation of all the reports, including the final well test and production handover reports.
- Identifies training needs of Omani personnel on Well Testing activities and supports individual plans to fill the gaps. Promote Omanization and develop systems for on-the-job training of national personnel
- Manages and is responsible for well control events.
Requirements (education required, background, experience, skills)
- Bachelor degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Well Testing OR College Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Well Testing OR General Diploma Certificate /Secondary School with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in Well Testing.
- Working knowledge of local and International Well Testing standards and legislation.
- Well control certificate or equivalent is required.
- Generating/executing Well Tests basis of designs & procedures, overseeing installation and testing, including cost/time estimates, detailed work instructions, and separator operational procedures.
- Supervising Well Testing-related well servicing and intervention operation.
- Basic understanding of well servicing equipment, including Hoists, pipe handling equipment, BOPs/control units, CTU, pumping (both non and corrosive) and logging / perforating equipment and operations, slick line equipment and operations, etc.
- Ability to mentor less experienced engineers and non-technical staff relative to Well Test design and installation and well servicing expertise.
- Familiarity with the risk assessment; specifically HAZID / HAZOP, and management of change processes.
- Managing service contractors and their performance relative to contracts, and improving/ developing contract technical specifications.
- Ability to work well with others, including drilling/workover hoist peers and cross-functional team members, some of whom may be multi-national employees.
- Problem solving skills and the ability to develop effective solutions to identified problems
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Operating knowledge of OpenWells Software.
- Good PC skills. Strong skillset in using Microsoft Office products.
