Engineering Technologist

Responsible for the automation, maintenance, improvement, cleaning, and manipulation of data in the subsurface team operational and analytics databases. Works with Production Engineers, Stimulation Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, and Production Technicians in order to understand and execute the implementation of data solutions and troubleshoot issues in the current software system. The position plays a key role in the development and deployment of innovative data platforms for advanced analytics and data processing, building the data pipelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business.

Qualifications

Experience in a data analysis role.

Experience in an Engineering support role within the Oil & Gas industry.

Expertise in specialised software development.

Proficiency with data mining, mathematics and statistical analysis

Robust knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications, specifically Excel, SQL language, Oracle and SQL Server.

Experience Programming with VBA, .Net (C#, VB.Net).

Experience using visualization/BI platforms such as Spotfire.

Experience using reporting solutions such as Crystal Report or Active Reports.

Able to work independently with limited supervision.

Able to manage multiple projects.

Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field.

Work as the lead data strategist, identifying and integrating new datasets that can be leveraged through product capabilities and work closely with the engineering team to plan and execute the development of data products and solutions.

Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables.

Devise and utilise algorithms and models to mine data stores, perform data and error analysis to improve the information quality, clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy.

Analyse data for trends and patterns, and Interpret data with a clear objective in mind.

Recommend implementation for process improvements.

Streamline and automate manual procedures utilising applications such as Excel, Access and VBA.

Communicate analytic solutions to stakeholders and implement improvements as needed to operational software solutions.

Maintain data used for evaluating asset performance for quarterly and partner reviews.

May be responsible for written and verbal presentations to management.

Keep current with technical and software industry developments.

This position is a 28x28 rotational position.
