Contracts & Procurement Specialist / Australia

Our global Oil & Gas client has a new opportunity reporting into the Project Contracts Team Leader - Well Operations, this role will be responsible for managing the procure-to-pay cycle for third party services and materials, managing daily requests for the provision of goods and services, and secure the acquisition of those services and materials from external providers in a timely, efficient and effective manner by managing the cycle of document preparation to bid, evaluate and award the required contracts, all in accordance with company processes and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

• Prepare all internal and external stakeholders contract approval documentation, and complete all activities required to expedite internal and external approvals;
• Prepare contracting strategy, pre-qualification and invitation to tender documentation including coordinating with relevant Project Team members;
• Ensure desired risk management outcomes are integrated into appropriate contractual safeguards;
• Evaluate commercial and contractual bid documentation, coordinate input from Technical, HSE and other functional evaluation, whilst ensuring the highest ethical standards are maintained at all times;
• Negotiate commercial and contractual terms in conjunction with legal, tax and the appropriate Contract Manager including agreement of Final Accounts and Contract Close-outs;
• Secure optimum commercial and contractual terms with technically acceptable contractors and suppliers and Set up Contracts (Outline Agreements in SAP);
• Produce evaluation reports and recommendations for award of contracts;
• Coordinate internal and external procurement approval processes and reporting requirements;
• Maintain records of all contract transactions in accordance with Company/Department procedures;
• Provide assistance to contract managers to ensure contractual obligations of both parties are met;
• Oversee contract and purchase order administration activities and ensure internal financial controls and supply chain procedures are adhered to;
• Manage variations, contractual claims, contract supplements, contract dispute resolution and other contractual notices ;
• Participate and take lead when assigned to develop, write, train, implement, maintain and participate in audits of Company/Department improvement initiatives, processes, procedures and systems;
• Any other duties as assigned by Project Contracts Team Leader.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Technical or commercial tertiary qualification essential;
• Highly experienced in contracts AND procurement;
• SAP preferred or similar Material Management System experience;
• Experience with Major Projects contracting essential, in Oil & Gas industry preferred;
• General understanding of Well Operations (offshore drilling and exploration) definite advantage;
• Experience with complex approvals and compliance regimes essential;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Ability to work as part of and actively contribute to a team environment;
• Must be process oriented, have good analytical skills and demonstrate good financial acumen;
