Senior Wellsite Geologist / USA
|Location:||Houston, Texas, USA|
The primary role of the Wellsite Geologist is to monitor, QC and integrate all the geological data being collected while drilling, i.e. cutting descriptions, LWD data, wireline log data, dynamic drilling data etc., effectively managing geological data and working alongside the personnel that supply it, i.e. Mudloggers and LWD Engineers, and working with company Drilling staff in communicating well objectives to service personnel as a whole. They are also comparing results with the offset well data to build an integrated understanding of the stratigraphy, i.e. reservoir and overburden. Critically, on sub salt drilling projects, they also have the added responsibility as the first line in the monitoring of subsurface pore pressure and wellbore stability via cuttings, log observations and drilling parameters. They are also the main contact between the rig and the sub-surface team in town and contribute to routine and ad-hoc meetings and communication, standard deliverables and logistical planning.
Their daily deliverables are listed below:
- Daily Geological Report
- Composite Log (product of the integration of LWD, mudlog data and interpretation)
- QC mudlogging and LWD deliverables
Note: Wellsite Geologists contribute to final end-of-well reporting and other deliverables and essentially draft sections of these whilst working offshore also.
