Senior Project Manager - Major Complex Building / Macau

This role is an immediate start 6-month assignment.
This organisation is one of the world's leading hotel property development groups and have an enviable reputation for the highest standards in their properties worldwide. Their properties are major hotels with a five-star rating and are totally customer led / design orientated.
In 2019, our client has a significant number of projects to deliver and is looking for an experienced and capable project delivery leader who can join the team on a short-term basis for 6 months and assist the Construction Director with delivery of the schemes. One major area the recruited individual will be responsible for is managing an outstanding defects period on one of the major projects.
All projects are subcontracted out to local Macau main contractors. This means the right person will have the ability to manage and support the local contractor to ensure the work is done the right standard and timescale, without being too aggressive on contractual terms, as this culturally doesn't work in the region.
Main Duties:
- Liaise with and manage the international main contractor as they close out and complete the remaining defects outstanding from original construction
- Work with local Macau subcontractors to deliver the specific areas of work left to complete or change
- Work with the internal project teams in regards to Mechanical & Electrical, Design (Interior and Architectural), Finance / Commercial.
- Problem solve issues / situations to reach the optimum outcome
- Act as representative for the Construction Director in meetings
- Ensure any governmental paperwork complete
Candidate requirements:
- Have a proven track record in project managing complex major building projects, ideally with a high specification internal finish.
- Worked for the end-client or a reputable international project management firm
- A relevant degree qualification is ideally required, but is not essential if you have the right experience.
- Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting abilities
- Excellent leadership and management abilities
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, confident and friendly
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in Asia or similar
- Immediately available
The package on offer for this role is c. USD11,750 per month (actually paid as 95,000 Macau Pataca per month) gross salary - you will be responsible for payment of your own tax in the location you are a permanent tax resident.
In addition, you will be provided with accommodation in a suitable hotel apartment whilst you are in Macau, along with medical insurance / life insurance, start and end of contract mobilisation flights and some other benefits.
Our client wishes to have someone start as soon as possible, so this is suited to someone who is between contracts.
The project workload for 2020 is not yet complete, so there is reasonable chance the contract could be extended or go permanent if the individual wanted and the pipeline of workload was confirmed.
