Start Date: ASAP

Description

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is being executed as a contract scope of work.

The duties and job functions of the Package Engineer— River Operation shall include, but are not limited to the

following:

  • Responsible to Area Manager —River Operations for the overall delivery of allocated packages) in accordance with the approved budget;
  • Use Spillway rating curves and reservoir storage curves to recommend gate settings for Spillway Operations to maintain target water leveis in the reservoir;
  • Run Vista software to generate forecasted flows at Muskrat Falls;
  • Run hydraulic models to assess impact on flow releases on downstream stakeholders;
  • Update dam related Emergency Preparedness Plans as necessary;
  • Provide support for assessment of effectiveness and installation of public safety infrastructure around Muskrat
  • Falls River Operations;
  • Update Stage 2 River Management Manual and Operation, Maintenance, and Surveillance (OMS) Manual as necessary;
  • Prepare daily Reservoir Operations Reports for use by Spillway Operations;
  • Work closely with River Operations and Engineering to ensure all dam safety requirements are being implemented and compliance with CDA Dam Safety Guidelines at site
  • Establish Deliverable Distribution Matrix based on Supplier Document Registers;
  • Coordinate Project Documentation Turnover Plan with Contractor(s);
  • Coordinate Company's response to site queries and concession requests in a timely manner to avoid schedule impact;
  • Provide input into weekly and monthly reports;
  • Ensure all package interfaces are clearly identified and scheduled with responsibility allocated; liaise with LCP and Contractor Interface coordinators to ensure interfaces are progressed in a timely manner;
  • Highlight and monitor critical items in cooperation with other team members;
  • Organize and lead meetings related to delivery of package(s), working to resolve issues that could impact overall delivery;
  • Monitor project deliverables and milestones and ensure compliance with project schedule;
  • Oversee Supplier/Contractor preparation of Design Documentation; in addition perform review and coordinate comment response sheets;
  • Work closely with Project Services/Planners, Engineering Manager(s), Company's Technical and Design Integrity group, Construction &Completions Managers, Quality Assurance, and other functional expertise during the design, procurement and construction phases of the Project;
  • Work with Contract Administrator to ensure obligations of both Company and Contractor are adhered to;
  • Work with Project Controls to ensure effective cost and schedule control for packages(s);

Requirements

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a recognized University with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • 1- 2 years successful experience, in technical as well as project management and construction roles.
  • Understanding of project management processes and management systems.
  • Familiar with hydrotechnical principles, concepts, and modelling.
  • Experience with dam safety would bean asset.
  • Experience with hydroelectric projects would bean asset.
